We are a dynamic chemistry and materials science research group focusing on the important Sustainable Water, Energy and Biomass (SUSWEB) nexus. We are based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Westville Campus, and housed within the School of Chemistry and Physics. Our team leader is Werner van Zyl, and the group explores research areas related to sustainability in an effort to make the world a better place.  In doing so, we hope to push scientific and technological boundaries and to find exciting and innovative solutions to the  challenges that beset the 21st century, especially in the areas of Water, Energy and Biomass (food) security.
